When a Health System uses VendorStat to manage facility access, the goal is that every visitor to every facility is registered in VendorStat and that every visit is scheduled using VendorStat ahead of time. This provides Health System Security personnel with a method of verifying that each visitor has appropriate credentials and legitimate business at a facility.
Typically, Schedulers use VendorStat to record the time and place that Vendor Representatives will visit a facility. However, Health System Security personnel have the authority to use VendorStat to schedule visits, cancel scheduled visits and, in certain circumstances, provide a courtesy pass to a visitor that does not have a visit scheduled with VendorStat.
